Obtaining Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada allows foreign citizens to live and work in Canada on a permanent basis.

Invitation to Apply (ITA):

If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) after a draw, you can submit your complete set of documents and the PR application within a specified timeframe (usually 60 days). This application includes providing supporting documents to prove your claims made in your Express Entry profile.

PR Application Processing:

The processing time for PR applications varies based on factors such as the program you applied under, the completeness of your application, and the volume of applications being processed.

Medical and Security Checks:

Applicants and their family members must undergo medical examinations and security checks as part of the PR application process.

Permanent Resident Status:

Once your PR application is approved, you will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and, if applicable, a Permanent Resident Visa (if you are outside Canada). Upon arriving in Canada, you will need to show your COPR to the immigration officer to finalize your PR status.

PR Renewal and Citizenship:

PR status is generally valid for five years and can be renewed. Holding PR status for a specific period is a requirement if you plan to apply for Canadian citizenship.
